Introducing Shonishin Japanese acupuncture techniques for children. Did you know that a child can be treated in about 2 minutes? Children are so sensitive that they respond amazingly well to acupuncture techniques. In this gentle Japanese way of working with children, needles are not used in the first 2 years, and then after that very sparingly. Instead, little pressure tools are stroked, rubbed lightly or tapped on the skin: abdomen, legs, back and arms. The kids usually do really well with the gentleness of the techniques and the goal is that they don't feel any discomfort from the treatment. Another plus is that parents can be taught to do simple techniques at home as well.
